Fayetteville, NC - Fayetteville State University's Lady Broncos are riding high as they extended their winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 victory (30-28, 30-19, 30-13) over Saint Paul's College Saturday night at Capel Arena. If the Lady Broncos win both matches tomorrow, it will be the first time they went undefeated in the East-West Roundup.
Chekimbrell Jefferson again led all Lady Broncos in kills, getting 15 in her final game of the evening. With two matches remaining, she has 40 kills and a .495 attack percentage. She also had four services for the evening. Junior outside hitter Shatia Gidrey had nine kills against St. Paul's and 25 in the first day of competition. Senior middle blocker Cassandra Peterson and freshman outside hitter Samantha Meeks had 10 and nine kills respectively. Achari Mainor had 41 assists in the match, bringing her total for the evening to an outstanding 101.
The win improves the Lady Broncos to 8-6 overall and 5-0 in the CIAA. They will return to action Sunday at 11:30 am against the Eastern Division leader Elizabeth City State University.
