Fayetteville, NC - Fayetteville State University started the CIAA East-West Volleyball Roundup in good fashion by caging the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union University in the games (30-13; 30-10, 30-12). The Lady Broncos improve to 6-6 overall and 3-0 in CIAA action. Virginia Union falls to 0-4 for the season and 0-2 in conference play.

Freshman middle blocker Chekimbrell Jefferson (Laurel Hill, NC) led the way with 10 kills and four service aces. Junior outside hitter Shatia Gidrey (Jacksonville, NC) added six kills. Freshman setter Achari Mainor (Antioch, CA) had 21 assists.

"I am pleased with our effort and that we have so many young good players capable of being an important factor in this league win," stated Coach Elorine Hill.

The Lady Broncos returns to action against Bowie State University at 2:00 p.m.
