Hampton, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) named Fayetteville State University's Garry Battle the Offensive Lineman of the week for his performance against Wingate University. The 6-1, 318, senior offensive guard from Hope Mills, North Carolina was instrumental in opening holes and providing protection for his quarterback in the Broncos' 34-26 closely fought contest against Wingate University. Through his effort, the Broncos were able to amass 375 total offensive yards (126 rush and 249 passing).
Bryan Hardy was named the CIAA Offensive Back of the Week. Hardy, 6-2, 200, junior quarterback from Vanceboro, North Carolina, rushed for 23 yards and passed for 180 yards (17-29) as the Broncos fell to Wingate University in the closing moments of the contest.
The conference Specialty Player of the Week honors went to 6-0, 188 senior punter/kicker Eric Lamoureux. The Roxbury, NH native connected on four of five field-goals attempts, his longest 50 yards, which established a new school record at Fayetteville State University. The previous record was 47 yards held by Darrell Armstrong since 1990 and set by John Highsmith in 1974. Lamoureux made three other field-goals of 20, 36, and 30 yards. In addition he had four punts for 133 yards, averaging 33.2 yards.
