TURNOVERS AND STRONG SHOOTING LIFTS FSU PAST LIVINGSTONE COLLEGE

Feb. 25, 2007

Box Score

The Lady Broncos forced Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears into 51 turnovers, scoring 53 points off the miscues enroute to a 101-85 win and earned a bye in the 32nd CIAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Lady Broncos took a 10-9 lead at the 14:37 mark in the first half and sailed to a 45-38 halftime lead. Livingstone stayed closed for the first few minutes to start the second stanza, keeping the score within five points, but FSU's pressure defense caused 26 turnovers that accounted for 30 points. Five points would be as close as the Lady Bears would come in their attempt to pull off an upset in the final regular season game for both teams before tournament play begins on Monday, February 25. The Lady Broncos have forced opponents into 107 turnovers in their last two games.

Five Lady Broncos scored in double-figures which gave FSU a cushion they would never relinquish. Leading the hot handed Lady Broncos was Rebecca Charles with 17 points. Tenisha McArthur had 15 points and grabbed 10 boards. Also giving the Lady Broncos the edge were freshmen Jocabia Lucas and Antoinette Smith both with 10 points and Chelsea Jeter had 12.

Livingstone College was lead by Linda Brown with 17 points.
