SHAW AVENGES EARLY LOSS AGAINST LADY BRONCOS

Jan. 25, 2007

Box Score

The Shaw University Lady Bears got off to a fast start against Fayetteville State and never looked back, outscoring the Lady Broncos 86-55. Earlier this season, the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos defeated Shaw University at home in the Capel Arena; but Thursday's game definitely had a different outcome.

At halftime FSU was down 41-14. Fayetteville State only made six of the 32 field goals attempted in the first half, a season low. They were also out-rebounded 39-17 in the first half, which allowed Shaw to have more second chance opportunities. The Lady Broncos faced a deficit for the entire game.

FSU only had one player in double figures for scoring, Tenisha McArthur with 14 points. McArthur also had nine rebounds, just missing a double-double for the game. The other leading scorer was Jamara McMillan with nine points; she too missed a double-double for the night after pulling down 10 rebounds.

Shaw had three players with double digit scoring totals. Celanese Bozeman led the way for the Lady Bears with 28 points, followed by Na'Keisha Anthony with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

With the loss, FSU moves to 12-6 overall and 8-3 in the CIAA. Shaw improves to 11-7 overall and 7-4 in the CIAA. Next, The Lady Broncos will hit the road to take on St. Paul's College Saturday, January 27, 2007.
