Lady Eagles soar past FSU in Capel Arena

North Carolina Central University held the Fayetteville State to 35.2 percent shooting in a dominate 98-78 CIAA basketball victory over the Lady Broncos on Saturday, January 6th in the Capel Arena.

Cassie King had an exceptional game for the Lady Eagles scoring a game-high 26 points, including going 8 for 10 from the free throw line. King also had 14 rebounds (10 on the defensive end) and an impressive 10 blocks, giving her a triple-double for the night. Jasmine Newkirk was also a solid contributor, adding 24 points for the Lady Eagles, which improve to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the CIAA.

Chelsea Jeter scored a team-high 22 points; Jamara McMillan added 15 points and Tenisha McArthur contributed 13 points for the Lady Broncos, who shot 35.9 percent for the game. Jeter also gave FSU 11 rebounds, giving her a double-double for the game. The Lady Broncos drop in the standings to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the CIAA.
