Dec. 9, 2006

The win was ugly but a "W" in anyone's column is a win. Fayetteville State University had three players in double figures as they rolled past Virginia Union University, 83-67 in the Capel Arena. Pacing the Lady Broncos scoring were freshman Jocabia Lucas, 11 points; Tressa Aughburns, 11 points; and Shayla Roberts with 10 points.

The Lady Broncos charged out the gate with a 9-3 run to take an early 13-4 lead in the first half. The Lady Broncos pressure defense forced Virginia Union into 42 turnovers. FSU's bench outscored VUU 44-8 and had 41 points off turnovers.

FSU led 39-28 at the half but only outscored VUU 44-39 in the second period. The win improved FSU's record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the CIAA. Virginia Union falls to 0-2 overall as well as in the CIAA.
