Lyric Nason brings a unique combination of strength and conditioning expertise, football operations experience, and communications skills to Fayetteville State University. A graduate of Virginia State University with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Sports Management, Nason has built a strong foundation working in player development, recruiting, and athletic performance.
During her collegiate career, Nason served as a Student Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Virginia State football program from 2023-25, where she helped develop and implement workout programs for a roster of more than 125 student-athletes. Her responsibilities included tracking player performance and attendance, assisting with rehabilitation efforts, leading warmups, advising athletes on nutrition and supplemental training plans, and utilizing Catapult performance monitoring technology.Â
Nason also held the role of Director of On-Campus Football Recruitment at Virginia State, serving as a key liaison for prospective student-athletes and their families. She coordinated recruiting visits, organized campus tours and displays, and played an active role in creating a welcoming and informative experience for recruits.Â
In addition, she gained valuable operations experience as the Assistant Head Football Manager, overseeing equipment management, inventory control, travel logistics, and game-day operations while helping supervise support staff and coordinate field setup and breakdown.Â
In the summer of 2025, Nason expanded her experience as a Football Strength and Conditioning Intern at the University of Maryland, where she assisted with player warmups, managed weight room operations, engaged with recruits, and supported the development of student-athletes through individualized training sessions and performance programming.Â
An Honors College student at Virginia State University, Nason is a member of the American Football Coaches Association and WeCOACH. She also participated in the 2025 Under Armour Career Combine and is pursuing her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification, with completion expected in 2026.
