Charnissa Chillers

Charnissa Chillers is a motivated, reliable, and dedicated professional with extensive experience in recruiting, player development, and film breakdown. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sport and Health Education from Radford University (May 2020). Chillers is a member of the WBCA, CPR certified, and a Mental Health First Aider certified by the National Council for Mental Health Wellbeing. Her additional skills include proficiency in Synergy, Fast Scout, Microsoft Office, scouting, Adobe Photoshop, and camp organization.

Currently, in her second season as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Fayetteville State University, Chillers continues to build on the remarkable success of the Broncos. In her first season, she played a pivotal role in leading the team to an impressive 29-3 overall record and a 17-1 conference record. The Broncos’ outstanding performance culminated in a trip to the Sweet Sixteen regional Championship game, highlighting their competitive spirit and resilience.

Her coaching philosophy centers around developing well-rounded athletes who excel both on and off the court. She emphasizes the importance of hard work, discipline, and teamwork, believing that success is built on a foundation of strong fundamentals and a positive mindset. Chillers is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment where players can grow and reach their full potential. She focuses on individualized player development, ensuring that each athlete receives the attention and guidance needed to improve their skills and confidence.

Previously, Chillers served as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at North Carolina Wesleyan University from October 2021 to 2023, where she led the team to significant achievements, including being the 2022-2023 USA South Conference Tournament runner-up and achieving a 27-9 USA South record (2021-2023). Under her guidance, the team ranked 10th in the NCAA in rebounds per game and 1st in the USA South for offensive rebounds per game (2022-2023).

Her responsibilities included serving as the Recruiting Coordinator, Player Development Coach, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, creating graphics for social media platforms, and overseeing study hall and academic meetings. Additionally, she was the Assistant Director of the Taylor Recreational Center, where she hired and trained new employees, managed schedules for on-campus events, and prepared reports for incidents and accidents.

Chillers also has experience as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Dream Chaser Skills Academy from June 2015 to July 2020, where she coached 200 athletes of various ages and contributed to multiple athletes continuing their careers at the collegiate level. She managed and implemented various training programs and strategies to improve player skills, oversaw and trained new coaches in the program, and coordinated and organized camp schedules.
