Biography

Ziyah Etchison is a sprinter for Fayetteville State University who brings elite championship experience and proven speed to the Broncos’ sprint squad after transferring from Campbell University. A product of Parkland Magnet IB High School, one of North Carolina’s premier sprint development programs, Etchison graduated in 2023 as one of the most accomplished sprinters in the state.

During her prep career, Etchison earned five state championships, qualified for the New Balance National Championships five times, and earned two All-America honors, establishing herself as one of the region’s most consistent and dynamic short sprinters. Training within Parkland’s nationally recognized sprint culture laid the foundation for her success in the 60 meters, 100 meters, and 200 meters.

Etchison began her collegiate career at Campbell University, where she competed at the CAA level before transferring to Fayetteville State. Since joining the Broncos, she has made an immediate impact, helping lead FSU to the 2024–25 CIAA Championship, one of the strongest team performances in program history. Her presence has strengthened the Broncos’ sprint depth in both individual events and relay lineups.

A versatile contributor, Etchison has recorded collegiate personal bests of 7.67 in the 60 meters, 11.96 in the 100 meters, and 24.60 in the 200 meters, while also contributing in the 400 meters and long jump. She has played key roles on multiple relay units, helping FSU earn podium finishes at championship and invitational meets throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Etchison is majoring in Sports Management and continues to build toward a career in athletics while competing at a high level. She chose Fayetteville State for the opportunity to compete for championships and represent a program committed to excellence on and off the track.

As she enters the next stage of her career as a Bronco, Etchison looks to build on her championship résumé and use her speed, experience, and competitive mindset to help lead Fayetteville State to continued success in the CIAA.
