Anthony Carstarphen enters his second year as the Head Golf Coach at Fayetteville State University. In his first season at FSU, Carstarphen guided the Broncos to a fifth overall finish in the 29th PGA Minority Collegiate Championship. Fayetteville State also placed fourth overall in the CIAA Golf Championships. Tutelage provided by Carstarphen led to former Bronco golfer Brandon Jobe receiving 2015 CIAA Golfer of the Year honors. Carstarphen hosted and finished first overall in the inaugural FSU Invitational and Bronco Athletics Tournament held at Gates Four Golf and Country Club. Carstarphen has emphasized focus on the golf course and in the classroom. The Fayetteville State University men's golf team received the 2015 CIAA Highest Team Grade Point Average (GPA) Award. The Broncos led all CIAA golf teams with a 3.55 grade point average. This past season, the Broncos featured two scholar-athletes in Brandon Jobe and Jared Chinn on the CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team. Jobe and Chinn also received CIAA All-Tournament Team honors for finishing in the top five at the conference championships. There were also three Broncos selected to the 2015 All-CIAA Golf Team. Carstarphen created and hosted the "Get Out and Grow with Golf" (GOGG) annual youth tournament for participants in junior high and high school. There were 53 youth from Cumberland County and surrounding areas that attended. He has served as lead instructor for PGA Get Golf Ready at Stryker Golf Course, as well as an instructor at Gates Four Golf and Country Club. Carstarphen conducts 40 to 50 lessons per week. Carstarphen regularly constructs summer youth camps, which draw on average 75 to 100 youth each year. He coached the 2009 Moore County Golfer of the Year. Over the past decade, Carstarphen has had extensive teaching, coaching, and tournament experience with a wide variety of students and events, from amateur to professional. He has been a professional caddy with the Pinehurst Caddy Master Enterprises and is a PGA Apprentice. Carstarphen obtained a Class A certification during PGA seminars held at Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He earned an Associate of Science degree from Valley Forge Christian College (1990).
