Standing at 5'4", ShaMiya Carlton brings strength and stability to the Fayetteville State cheerleading squad as a Main Base. A proud Fayetteville native and graduate of Cumberland International Early College (Class of 2025), ShaMiya capped her high school cheer career by earning the MVC (Most Valuable Cheerleader) award—a testament to her leadership and dedication.

Now a freshman Computer Science major, ShaMiya has big plans beyond the sidelines. After graduation, she intends to commission into the Air Force, where she will manage and analyze weather-related data systems. Her drive for excellence is clear in her personal motto: always outdo the person she was yesterday.

When she’s not cheering, ShaMiya enjoys FaceTime calls with friends, spontaneous dance breaks, and surprising people with her culinary skills. Her favorite cheer memory? Taking that first step into the sport with confidence and no hesitation.

ShaMiya chose Fayetteville State University for its opportunities and the supportive network that believed in her potential. She also gives back to her community through service with the Fayetteville Rotary Club and Delta GEMS.
