Makayla Crawford is a junior member of the Fayetteville State University cheerleading program and a Fayetteville, North Carolina, native. A graduate of Seventy-First High School, Crawford has established herself as both an outstanding student and a dedicated leader throughout her academic and athletic career.
Before arriving at Fayetteville State, Crawford served as both Co-Captain and Captain of the Seventy-First High School varsity cheerleading team. Her contributions earned her several honors, including the team's MVP Award and Coaches Award. Since joining the Broncos, she has continued to excel, earning the Cheerleading Team's Highest Individual GPA Award in back-to-back years (2024-25 and 2025-26), being named Team MVP, and receiving Chancellor's List recognition three times.
A Nursing major with aspirations of becoming a Labor and Delivery or NICU nurse, Crawford plans to gain experience in the healthcare field before returning to school to pursue a Family Nurse Practitioner degree. Her commitment to excellence extends beyond athletics and academics, reflecting her passion for helping others and making a positive impact in her community.
Crawford credits God, her parents, and her grandmother as her biggest influences. Their encouragement and faith have helped guide her through challenges and inspired her to persevere in all aspects of life. She often draws motivation from Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," using that message as a source of strength and confidence.
Away from cheerleading, Crawford enjoys spending time with family and friends, painting, participating in Bible study, and relaxing whenever she has the opportunity. Her leadership qualities have also been recognized within the Broncos program, as she will serve as Cheerleading Co-Captain for the 2026-27 season.
Known for her strong work ethic, academic achievement, and servant-hearted approach to leadership, Crawford continues to represent Fayetteville State with distinction both in the classroom and on the sidelines.
