Alyssa Williams is a junior member of the Fayetteville State University cheerleading program and a transfer student from Gaston College. Originally from Hollywood, Florida, Williams graduated from Hunter Huss High School in 2023, where she established herself as a standout leader, scholar, and athlete.
At Hunter Huss, Williams built an impressive resume of accomplishments both in and out of athletics. She served as Senior Class President, was a three-year Varsity Cheer Captain, earned Cheerleading MVP honors for two consecutive years, and graduated with a 4.2 GPA as an Honors Student. Her achievements also included being crowned Prom Queen and earning Most Improved Track Athlete recognition, highlighting her well-rounded involvement and commitment to excellence.
Now pursuing a degree in Forensic Science at Fayetteville State, Williams plans to build a career in forensic investigations and the criminal justice field, using science and analytical skills to help solve crimes. She chose Fayetteville State because it offered an environment where she could continue growing academically, personally, and athletically while working toward her professional goals.
Williams' most memorable athletic achievement came when she earned a spot on Fayetteville State's collegiate cheerleading team, fulfilling a longtime dream of competing at the next level. She views that accomplishment as proof that hard work, dedication, and self-belief can turn aspirations into reality.
As the oldest of six siblings, Williams credits her family as her greatest influence. Their support helped shape her leadership skills, sense of responsibility, and determination. Before competitions, she prepares mentally through prayer, music, and positive self-talk, focusing on trusting her preparation and remaining confident in the moment. Her motivation comes from the desire to make her family, teammates, and supporters proud while giving her best effort every time she performs.
Outside of cheerleading, Williams enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, volunteering, attending church, listening to music, and pursuing personal growth. Her commitment to service is reflected through her involvement in back-to-school drives, food drives, clothing drives, homeless outreach efforts, and other community initiatives. She also enjoys mentoring younger athletes by teaching the traditions and techniques of Stomp and Shake cheerleading, helping them develop confidence, discipline, and teamwork.
Williams believes Fayetteville State has helped her become more independent, disciplined, and confident while teaching valuable lessons in perseverance and accountability. Her advice to young athletes is to embrace the journey, work hard, prioritize academics, and continue believing in themselves even when others may not yet see their vision.
