Mechanicsville, VA – Fayetteville State University's women's bowling team finished with a perfect 4-0 record in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Bowling Championship bracket play, securing their third consecutive conference title.
Ericka Reed was named to the All-Tournament Team, achieving the highest bowling average of 200.75. Additionally,
Paige Rockwell and
Nariah Joyner were honored as Co-MVPs of the tournament.
The Broncos began the best-of-seven double-elimination bracket play on the previous day, sweeping No. 8 Johnson C. Smith with a 4-0 victory. On the following day, FSU faced No. 5 Livingstone in the second round and No. 3 Virginia Union in the third round, winning both matches 4-1, which sent both teams into the Loser's Bracket. The Virginia Union Panthers made a strong comeback in the bottom bracket, earning a rematch against the Broncos.
During the championship round, FSU dominated the Panthers, taking an early 1-0 lead with a score of 209-132 and maintaining their momentum for a 4-0 sweep to clinch the title. Fayetteville State's scores in the matches were 227-181, 171-156, and 198-169.
This title marks the sixth in the program's history, with previous championships won in 2008, 2011, and 2012.
The Broncos will now prepare for the NCAA Regionals on April 4th.
