Salem, VA -- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) along with its Bowling Coaches Association announce the 2022-23 CIAA Bowling All-Conference team and superlatives. Fayetteville State's Paige Rockwell, Cecilia Chafin, Denise Brown, Angel Pope, Erika Reed, and Jayda Gignac ranked in the top ten of the conference's bowling averages to earn post-season awards.
Freshman Paige Rockwell finished the regular season with the CIAA's second-highest average of 185.93 pins from 29 games (5,392 pins). She recorded the second-best game of 246 during the North/South Roundup on February 18th.
Senior Cecilia Chafin also bowled in 29 games and follows Rockwell with the third-highest conference average of 181.76 from 5,271 pins. Her best game of 235 ranks fourth in the CIAA.
Sophomore Denise Brown ranks sixth in the conference with 4,932 pins and an average of 170.07 pins from 29 games. Her best game is 211 pins. Graduate senior Angel Pope is seventh with a 170.04 from 4,421 pins and 26 games played.
Rookies Ericka Reed and Jayda Gignac closed out the All-Conference Team at ninth and tenth. Reed knocked down 3,941 pins in 24 games for an average of 164.21. She has the same high game as teammate Chafin with 235. Gignac has 3,876 pins and a 161.50 average from 24 games.
The All-CIAA Team was announced during the opening ceremony of the CIAA Bowling Championships in Salem, Virginia.
