Charlotte, NC – The Fayetteville State University golf program captured the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division title by ten strokes at the Charlotte Country Club on Tuesday, March 14.
Caden Hodges, a freshman from Dunn, NC, won the Low Medalist Award with a one-under-par, 141, performance.
The Broncos went into the final round of the tournament with a 291 two-stroke lead over Virginia Union (293) and a four-stroke advantage over defending CIAA Champions Livingstone. FSU finished with 304 for a 36-hole total of 595 to defeat the VUU Panthers (605) and LC Blue Bears (611).

Hodges led the course with a two-under-par (69) scorecard after 18 holes and followed with the best second round with one-over (72).
Zack Martin (senior – Sandford, NC) finished fourth overall with a 146 (+4) to join Hodges on the All-Tournament Team. He recorded 73s (+2) on both rounds.
Brandon Jones (senior – Sanford, NC) finished tied for 11th (156, +14) along with
Shaun Wixson (junior – Fayetteville, NC).
Juan Lopez (sophomore - Spain, Madrid) was tied at 18th (159, +17).
Jack McCarthy (freshman – Winston-Salem, NC) played as an individual and finished eighth against the field with 152 strokes (+10).
Fayetteville State will compete in the Glade Springs Invitational in Daniels, WVA from March 19th through 20th.
