Douglasville, GA (March 7, 2022) -- Fayetteville State women's bowling finished eighth overall at TNBA-HBCU Invitational in Douglasville, GA with a 9-4 record. A tournament of a dozen programs including two NCAA Division II institutions, the Broncos opened the first day of Baker Matches with a 3-2 record but had a perfect 5-0 second day which was comprised of team matches. FSU wrapped up the event in the final Baker rounds with a 1-2 standing.

Denise Brown led the Broncos with two 200+ games on day 2. Brown, a Fayetteville native, bowled a 204 in the first game against Alabama A&M to help the Broncos win 758-750. She closed out the day with a 202 in the 814-806 win over Morgan State. She ranked 11
th amongst 42 bowlers with a five-game average of 179.2 pins.

Cecilia Chafin (Fayetteville, NC) had the hot hand in the 811-796 victory over Norfolk State with a 170 game. Brown's 182 pins fueled the 849-693 triumph over Grambling and
Angel Pope's (Fayetteville, NC) 180 was best in the 802-763 defeat over Texas Southern.

On the first day of total-pins Baker rounds, FSU defeated Florida A&M 801-620, Southern University 809-782, and Coppin State 905-883.

In the Championship Bracket, the Broncos defeated Alabama A&M 4-0. FSU was defeated by Jackson State 4-2 and finished behind No. 7 Bowie State after a drawn-out 4-3 loss to the Bulldogs. Morgan State won the championship title over Florida A&M. Coppin State finished third over Alabama State. Southern and Jackson State ranked fifth and sixth, respectively.

Fayetteville State will host the final CIAA Event of the season this weekend from Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13 at the B&B Bowling Lanes in Fayetteville.
