FSU Bowling Strikes Perfect Weekend at Final CIAA Event

Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville State University bowling closed out the regular season with a perfect 12-0 weekend against CIAA Southern Division at the B&B Bowling Lanes in Fayetteville, NC. The Broncos finished with a total of 11,157 pins from the Team (7,317) and Baker (3,840) games. FSU rolled 11 200-games through the Baker rounds with a high of 267.
 
Freshman Denise Brown finished with the second-highest bowling average of the event with 200.25 pins over eight games with four 200+ games.  Against Shaw, Brown dropped 213 pins and 212 against Johnson C. Smith on the first day of competition. On the second day, she hit 224 pins versus Livingstone and 203 over Shaw.
 
Graduate-Student Angel Pope also finished with four 200+ games and the third-highest average of 197.25 pins.  Pope closed out the first day with a pin-count of 222 against Livingstone and opened the second day against Johnson C. Smith with a total of 234 pins. She followed her best game up with a 211 versus Shaw and a final round of 214 against the SU Bears.
 
FSU went 4-0 after the first day with an 864-578 win over Livingstone with freshman Donna Kerechanin having the hot hand of 181 pins.  Brown led the way in an 853-603 win over Shaw. Johnson C. Smith gave the Broncos the closest round of the day with a 921-800 game, in favor of the Broncos. Junior Cecilia Chafin rolled 199 pins behind Brown's 212. In the final game of the day in win (1,018-784) against Livingstone, FSU had three 200+ games. Cheyenne Stahnke had the highest pin-count of 224. Pope followed with 222 pins and Kerechanin accounted for 217.
 
Pope and Chafin paired together for 234 and 224 pins in the second day's 988-950 victory over Johnson C. Smith. Brown was close to a 200-game with 194 pins. Angel Pope led the 876-590 win over Shaw with 211 pins. After the 862-678 win over Livingstone, Chafin and Brown rolled a 203 each behind Pope's 214 in the final 935-694 win over Shaw.
 
Fayetteville State closed the event 4-0 in Baker games.
 
The Broncos will travel to Salem, Virginia for the CIAA Championship Saturday, March 26 through the 27th.
