Richmond, VA (February 18-20, 2022) -- Fayetteville State stood on top at the CIAA North/South Bowling Roundup hosted by Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA. The Broncos seized first place with an overall record of 11-1 (7 team victories and 4 baker wins) with a total of 6650 team match points and 3528 baker points dropping 10,178 pins.
The Broncos bowled flawlessly during the opening day of competition weekend, finishing 4-0 in team matches versus Elizabeth City State (890-656), Bowie State (869-849), Virginia State (765-455), and Virginia Union (822-624).Â

Angel Pope had the hot hand to start things rolling for the Broncos dropping 215 pins. Junior bowler
Cheyenne Stahnke, posted a 200-pin game in the win over the hosting Panthers of Virginia Union on day two of the weekend. For the largest margin win against Virginia State, freshman
Katrina Lowe knocked down 175 pins, leading the 310 point team win.Â

Angel Pope completed the weekend with the highest average for the South with an impressive 186.29 and a game-high of 258 versus Bowie State. Freshman
Denise Brown placed 9th overall in the Southern division bowling an average of 165.88 with a game-high of 211 with Junior
Cecilia Chafin finishing in the 6th overall slot for FSU with an average bowled game of 172.75 and game-high of 207.Â
The Broncos dropped once the entire weekend to Bowie State during the team match format in a 50-pin match but nullified the loss by sweeping the competition yet again on the final and Baker match day. Collectively, the Broncos defeated VSU, VUU, ECSU, and BSU with three 200-pin Baker games (204, 200, and 202).Â
