FSU Cross Country Runners Sweep CIAA Food Lion Weekly Honors

Charlotte, NC – The Fayetteville State cross country duo of Repline Cheptoo and Hillary Toroitich were named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) women's and men's Food Lion Runners of the Week after the Bronco women finished third at the Queens University Royal Challenge and the men finished 11th.
 
Repline Cheptoo, a freshman from Kapsabet Rift Valley Kenya, ran in her first-ever collegiate meet this past Friday and finished as the front-runner for the Broncos. She ran the 5-kilometer race in 19:57.57.8 with an average mile of 6:25.5. Cheptoo finished 12th out of 199 competitors and earned ten points for FSU. The second Bronco to finish the course had a time of 21 minutes.
 
Hillary Toroitich has been the lead runner for the Broncos all season. The transfer sophomore from Middle Tennessee State and native of Ainabkoi Rift Valley, Kenya finished second overall in a time of 25:57.4 with an average mile of 5:13.3. There was a total of 223 competitors in the men's 8K of the Royal Challenge. He was just seconds off his career-best 25:41.9 that he ran at the Blue Bear Invitational.
