Greensboro, N.C. – Fayetteville State Tennis captured its first win of the season with a 7-2 win over Greensboro College at the Barber Park Indoor Courts in Greensboro, N.C.
FSU (1-1 overall) opened the match with a 2-1 doubles lead over the Pride (0-1) in GC's season-opener. The No. 2 doubles combination of
Arnisha Cosby and
Sydney Harris defeated Carleigh Roach/Lauren Rodriguez, 8-1. At the No. 3 spot, Amber Galdden and
Brittany Doss defeated Hunter Cashion/Samantha Lopez, 8-4.
The Broncos won five of the six sets in singles play. Cosby won (6-1, 6-1) at the No. 2 and
Lauryn Clark defeated her opponent 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 3 singles. No. 4 singles went to
Sydney Harris with a score of 6-0 and 6-1.
Jayla Wooten was victorious at No. 5 with a win of 6-1 and 6-0.
Kayla Williams closed out the day with the No. 6 victory (6-3, 6-0).
Fayetteville State will host its 2019 home-opener against Salem University on Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m. on the Capel Courts.
