Fayetteville State Women Win Livingstone's XC Invitational

Salisbury, NC - The Fayetteville State women's cross-country program captured their second win of the season at the Livingstone XC Invitational meet. The Broncos defeated local rival Methodist by one point, 36-37. The men's program finished third out of five teams.

FSU had three runners finish in the top ten. Aleena Cruz (Knightdale, NC) led the stampede with a fourth-place finish in a 5-kilometer time of 20:45. Destiny Stevons (Durham, NC) trailed Cruz for a fifth-place finish in a time of 21:22. Morgan Gaither (Merrit Island, FL) was in at 22:02 for ninth.

Conference opponents Livingstone (80) and Johnson C. Smith (102) finished third and fourth. Bluefield State (103) rounded out the field with a fifth-place finish. Thirty-seven individuals completed the Salisbury Community Park course.

The FSU men's team finished the 8-kilometer race with 78 points to defeated Shaw University (112) and Johnson C. Smith University (118). Methodist (15) and Bluefield State (56) edged out the Broncos.

Richard Prudente-Bernal (Fayetteville, NC) led FSU with an eighth-place finish in 30:41. Jaylaan Poe (Laurinburg, NC) and Khalil Williams (Fayetteville, NC) finished 12th and 15th, respectively. Thirty-eight runners from the five teams participating finished the race.

The Broncos will compete in the upcoming CIAA Cross-Country Championships on Thursday, October 26 at the Green Hill Park in Salem, VA.
