LADY BRONCOS BOWLING GOES UNBEATEN ON DAY ONE OF THE CIAA NORTH-SOUTH MEET

Laurel, MD - The Fayetteville State University women's bowling team sparked the 2016-17 season with a strong opening day performance in the CIAA North-South Divisional Meet I held at the AMF Laurel Lanes on Friday, November 11th. The Lady Broncos had a total pin count of 3981 and a 4-0 team match record (only in the Southern Division to go unbeaten).

Fayetteville State began the day with an 827-689 victory over Shaw University. Junior Devondra Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) rolled a match-high 186 against the Lady Bears.

The Lady Broncos defeated Livingstone (852-477), Johnson C. Smith (842-645), and Saint Augustine's (795-574) in the remaining matches of the day. FSU had a bye in the fifth match round. Freshman Brittany Worthy (Durham, NC) bowled a team-high 207 against the Lady Blue Bears and a 188 versus the Golden Bulls.

Worthy had a team-high average of 186 on day one, followed by Bazemore with an average of 177. Sophomore Veronica Colon-Santiago (Hope Mills, NC) and freshman Leslie Brayboy (Maxton, NC) averaged 156 and 152, respectively.

Junior Lola Neal (Wilson, NC) and freshman Savannah Starling (Fayetteville, NC) rounded out the scoring with averages of 147 and 130, respectively.

Fayetteville State will continue on day two Saturday, November 12th with more matches against CIAA Southern Division teams. The event will conclude on Sunday, November 13th with Baker matches.
