Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville State University golf team shot 305 to claim first place in the FSU Invitational held Monday, March 16th at the par 72, 6895 yard Gates Four Golf and Country Club. Freshman Jared Chinn (Ft. Bragg, NC) fired an impressive 69 (-3) to earn the individual medalist honors.
Johnson C. Smith University and Saint Augustine's University also participated in the tournament. JCSU finished in second with a score of 332, followed by the Falcons with a score of 462.
Four Broncos finished in the top six of the individual scores. Junior Brandon Jobe (Fayetteville, NC) took third shooting four over with a 76. Junior Christopher Jackson (Raeford, NC) was one behind in fourth with a score of 78 (+6).
Freshman Cameron Hughes finished the round with a 10-over par 82 for sixth place. Sophomore Corbin Rascoe (Windsor, NC) improved from the previous tournament this season with a score of 119 in the round.
Fayetteville State will return to the green on Tuesday, March 17th for the FSU Broncos Athletic Tournament. That tournament will also be played at the Gates Four Country Club.
