Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville State University golf team shot 313 (+25) to place first in the Broncos Athletic Tournament held Tuesday, March 17th at the par 72, 6895 yard Gates Four Golf and Country Club. Freshman Jared Chinn (Ft. Bragg, NC) won the individual medalist honor for the second consecutive event, shooting an even par (72).
Johnson C. Smith University and Saint Augustine's University were the other competing teams in this tournament. JCSU finished in second once again, this time with a score of 338 (+50). The Falcons were third with a score of 490 (+202).
Junior Brandon Jobe (Fayetteville, NC) took second behind Chinn, shooting two over with a 74. Junior Christopher Jackson (Raeford, NC) claimed third to round out the top three finishers with a score of 76 (+4). Jobe and Jackson each improved by two strokes in their score from the previous event.
Calvin Mason, Brencis Stanford, Joshua Steger, and Johanan Edmeade from Johnson C. Smith took the four spots on the leaderboard. Freshman Cameron Hughes finished eighth with a 19-over par 91.
Sophomore Corbin Rascoe (Windsor, NC) shot 139 (+67) on the day.
Fayetteville State returns to the course for the CIAA Northern Division Tournament hosted by Virginia Union University March 22-24. 2015. The tournament will be held at Lake Chesdin Golf Course in Chesterfield, VA.
