FAYETTEVILLE STATE CONTINUES DOMINANCE IN CIAA GOLF

CHESTERFIELD, Va. - Four tournaments. Four wins.

Just another year for Fayetteville State golf.

The Broncos won for the fourth time this season and for the second time this year in a CIAA division tournament, backing up their Southern Division victory two weeks ago with a dominant win at the Northern Division Tournament on Tuesday at Lake Chesdin Golf Club, winning by a staggering 27 strokes.

Led by Jacob Barge (Jr., Fayetteville, N.C.), who won for the second time this season, Fayetteville State fired rounds of 301 and 305 on the 6,404-yard, par-72 course. Barge won by four strokes, carding rounds of 71 and 76 for a 3-over-par 147 to top Winston-Salem State's Zach Sheets (75-76-151).

Fayetteville State's Jedidiah Frazier (So., Havelock, N.C.) and Brandon Jobe (Fr., Fayetteville, N.C.), who won the Southern Division tournament, shot identical scores on both days - 77 and 75 - to finish in tie for third at 8-over 152. Rounding out Fayetteville State's scoring was Lincoln Jackson (Sr., Southern Pines, N.C.), who shot 76-79-155 to finish in a tie for sixth.

The Broncos have once again established themselves as the team to beat in the CIAA. The Broncos have won 25 CIAA championships, including 10 of the last 14.

Winston-Salem State, after rounds of 312 and 321 for a 633 total, was second on Tuesday while Virginia State (325-323-648) was third.
