The Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos Bowling Team opened the 2007 season by capturing the North Carolina A&T University Aggie Invitational this weekend at Gate City Bowling Lanes in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The championship was not determined until the final roll off between North Carolina A&T and the Lady Broncos, who won the 797-690 roll-off. In the roll-off, the Lady Broncos outscored the Aggies 154-155, 223-189, 209-172, 211-174. The final match gave the Lady Broncos a point total 67-66 win for the championship.
The Lady Broncos were led by All-Tournament selection sophomore Jessica Donnelly, who had a 186.6 average for the three-day event. Other contributing to the Lady Broncos Championship over the Division I MEAC opponents were Alica Winstead 166.2 Christina Henry 165.8, Jessica Florit 160.2 and Jennifer Montgomery 160.0. The Lady Broncos finished the three-day bowling tournament with 15-1 record. Their only loss was to North Carolina A & T University.
